Found Crawling on My Lawn...

Post by Ken Ramos »

Usually I find these things high in the mountains among decaying leaves, never thought of them being around here. This one was about four inches long. I thought of keeping it in a small terrarium but decided not to. :-k

Thanks Joan :D , I don't think I have found them in any color other than this but once and I cannot remember what color that particular one was, maybe just a shade lighter than this. :-k

The most common are the brown to black species.

Thanks Arlon. :D These things like some others, think that if they curl themselves up like that they will be protected from what ever is bothering them, sort of like an ostrich sticking its head into the sand I guess, though I personally have never seen an ostrich do so. I read somewhere that these things can produce a substance akin to cyanide when aggitated, I don't much about that either but I will take their word for it.
