Interesting caterpillar - South Africa

It looks like the caterpillar of the laelia octophora (Eight-spotted Tussock) It is about 2.5 inches (40mm)

The first one looks pretty nice there Joan, the last a bit noisy and lacking some sharpness. Overall a good set of images though and the composition and backgrounds well suited to the subject. This caterpillar looks almost like some of the ones we have around here. :D

Thanks Ken. :) I know the second is not a great picture as I had to enlarge it a lot from another picture in order to show the antenna. :)

I certainly would not want to eat this thing and get a mouth full of hair {-( a very unusual looking caterpiller :wink:

Thanks Doug, I have never seen one like this before. I was just reading an article on Mopane Worms. They are trying to export them from here to the USA. I would not want to eat them either even though people say they taste like peanuts. LOL!! I don't like the taste of peanuts. :)
