"I am the boss!"

This little lizard is perhaps nine inches long from nose to tail, but he is explaining to me that he is the boss, and he gets all the girl lizards around this particular tree root! :D

The red flap you see is normally tucked neatly under the chin, but these guys pull it out for dominance displays. Shot on Gumbo Limbo Trail in Everglades National Park with a 180mm macro lens. I could do without the blades of grass, but don't feel good about trying to PS them out.

Nice shot Mike. Has this fellow lost the end of his tail do you think?

When you say you don't feel good about PS'ing the grass out...is that on principle or just the amount of work involved? Just curious :D

Partly principle, partly the work involved, partly my skill level with PS (I could handle the background grass, I think, but not sure I could do the grass on the log convincingly). I was so caught up with getting an Arthur Morris-style background when shooting this, I didn't even notice the grass!

His tail is still there, just curved away from me (following the run of the tree root he is using as a throne). It's still there, though doesn't look obvious in the photo.

A classic sunburst "DewLap" Did he do any "Head Bobbing"? I don`t mind the grass, it is not enough to distract from the lizard IMO.

Great shot there Mike, it is either vieing for the ladys attention or getting ready to settle a territorial dispute. Really a nice shot, grass or not. :D

Ya know, now that I look at it carefully, I think he has lost his tail and had it regrow! Good eyes, Bruce!

Beetleman, he did do some head bobbing, or "pushups" as I think of them!
