I thought it was the asteroid where Han Solo parked the Millenium Falcon and got chased out of the mouth of the giant "space snake", but maybe not! Nice puzzle, anyway!

Well this looks like a mushroom of some sorts or maybe even a bracket fungi. Puzzling, could be sporangia of sorts or some other spore bearing structure(s). :-k

As I said earlier, Ken is more than lukewarm. It's a fungus alright...but not a mushroom exactly...
