Here on the boards I´ve learned that the Opiliones are sometimes called "daddy long-legs" in English, at least in the US. But if I remember correctly I´ve heard Brits speaking of daddy long-legs when they were meaning crane flies (Diptera: Tipulidae), and others are calling spiders with long legs daddy long-legs too. Hmm, I think it´s such an ambiguity as with the "bug" term. But in this case "daddy long-legs" suited me well to choose my title.
Anyway, found this group in a doorway of a very old house when I was having a look at the old center of the city of Wismar, Germany. Dunno what they were up to, but quite an entanglement there, isn´t it?

I have seen such entanglments my self, though I do not know what they are doing either. However, I will say this, with those legs going every which direction you sure seem to have had good control over the depth of field. Really a nice image, though it reminds me of a very detailed pen and ink drawing.
