Hmmm!! This looks good enough to eat!! We have just recently (about 10 years ago) started growing them in SA. :)

I see! Now I´m getting more and more familiar with the persimmon. :D
Thanks, Ken!

You´re making me inquisitive about its taste! I should have a look if I can find some of these persimmons at our fruit market. Recently ,for the first time we had sweet potatoes from there, grown in the USA.

Did this little stalk we see, attach the fruit to the tree or is it a remnant of the former flower?

Cheers,
Betty

A flower remnant I do believe there Betty. It is surprising that the persimmon is not as widely known as I had imagined. As Joan has stated they have not had them long in South Africa either. As for the taste, well I would say you're not missing much but then again many people like them.

Thanks Betty, Joan :D

We had imported persimmons from Israel or Austrailia for many years before we grew them ourselves. Here it is also not a very popular fruit.

I like them 8) Very nice picture Ken. Just remember...The wasps like them because they have a lot of sugar when they are ripe
