Jumbo Robber Flies

Post by beetleman »

A couple more pictures of the Jumbo RobberFlies. These are about 1.25" long and very loud when they are flying. As you can see, they have an extra large hump for the powerful wing muscles on these big brutes  You might be able to get a size comparison from the clover leaves in the first picture. Same species as this post. Both are full frame. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... php?t=3440

Two really excellent images. Pic2 in particular shows some great detail on the head.

This is some intimidating species

Any idea how much longer you've got to wait to get your camera back Doug?

Great shots Doug. What an ugly looking critter this is. I think if it was any bigger and I saw one, I would run a mile. LOL!! These are what they make horror movies out of. :)

Thank you Joan. If they were any bigger, I think we would have to start worrying. They are a very Ferocious predator  .

Nice shots for a guy with a broke camera sitting at the factory somewhere. Probably under a couple of pizza boxes. Where ya been hiding these? :D

Thanks Ken, I am still working on the photos I took during the summer. These were taken the beginning of August.
