Three excellent photos of a extremely photogenic subject Nikola.

Although I prefer the pose and orientation of the mantis in pic1, IMO pic3 is the better lit (appreciate that you can't influence the position of the sun :D) and shows the clearest detail, particularly around the head and eyes.

The cerci are very elaborate in this species. I understand that they usually operate as sensory organs of some type, but it's difficult to imagine quite what it is that they're sensing - anyone able to enlighten?

Bruce :D

Very nice photos Nikola. #1 looks like the classic pose for a mantis. I would say she looks ready to produce an egg case (Ootheca)

Very cool mantis. We have very few of them in my area and have only managed 1 mantis picture to date. This one is very nice! Arlon

Seems as though you always find the "chubby" ones there Nikola. Good question about the cerci though, new one on me. :-k

Seems the pregnant ones has the most sympathy for me.
Wondering if she can feel my emitted "good vibrations" with the cerci. 8)
