These are simply amazing images Nikola. The body completely disappears into the stem and the wings perfectly mimic the long needles - incredible!

The camouflage in pic1 is so perfect it reminds me of the puzzle pics I used to do as a child where you had to discover a number of objects hidden in a drawing.

Well spotted ....or did you see it land ....come on, own up!)

It does blend in to its surroundings really well. Pine trees, I have noted only recently, can mask and harbor a number of insects if one will take the time to look for them. Well seen and taken Nikola. :D

The big darner type dragonflies around here very rarely land. Usually only to eat what they have caught. It does look like his mouthparts are extended out a little. An excellent pair of photos Nikola.

Bruce, I actually saw him flying into pines. But it took me about two minutes or even more to find exact place.

They behave the same in Europe, and will only land if prey is big. It has taken me years to get a good photo of a darner.

This one is a female Anax imperator (Blue Emperor), so refering to it as a guy is a bit off :D
