I have seen plenty of images of these shells, but to me, this is one of the best composed. Beautifully done.

I thought that by back-lighting the subject I could emphasize the sense of emptiness/abandonment.

yep, the back lighting works very well on this shell Michael. very nice detail.

Sort of reminds me of a "blown out" APC (armored personel carrier). I have these too around the yard, stuck on trees and the side of the house. To bad they hatch out at night when I am asleep. Nice image Michael, the backlighting works well. :D
