Mantis with an attitude

Post by salden »

Image

Normally, I would not have posted this image. It is not that great and I am not that happy with it. However, right after I took this image, the mantis proceeded to beat me up :? He whipped up on me good too  I suppose he was not in the mood for a photo session.

I should have seen it coming..well I did see it coming. He started coming toward me and I said to myself "he is coming after me", but I still stood there and took his photo and he kept coming and then he beat me up.

Very interesting Sue.
There must be offsprings around, I'm guessing. :-k
Anyone knowing more about mantis behavior?

This is the first that I know of a mantis on the attack. But I know, I carry the bruises  . Next time I will go out with my 400mm and see how he likes that big guy.

Maybe he is a "Mantis Moviestar" you know, some of them like to attack the photographers

Sue, glad you are OK and able to post  The attack of an angered critter like this is rarely survivable...I hear they do that "cut and run" thing our Bush talks about....yes get a bigger gun!
Thanks for helping me with the registration awhile back. I usually post over on the Microscope side.
