I wonder which one evolved earlier, the tiger or the tiger beetle. I have always liked these fierce insects.

WOW :shock: Wonderful metallic colors on this beetle (my favorite ones also) .Looks like his eyes will blink if you wait long enough (is that water on them ?)

The beetle was crying a bit. :) I should have waited a bit longer for condense to disappear. But this adds a bit of emotion!

I love these small insects, and they are often the first I photograph in early spring around April. They are quite difficult to get close to, and will fly up and land a few feet away all the time.

I once photographed a mating pair, where the female was holding an ant in its mouth. Incredible mouth parts they got 8)

This picture is simply the best portrait I've ever seen of this green fellow. I presume it's a stack, right ? Excellent, I need to learn to do that some time.

This beetle certainly does have some serious mouth parts. Look like it could put a real hurting on what ever it decides to grab. Wonderful portrait Wim, thanks. :D
