well i went to the local rancho santa ana botanical gardens, it was quite hot and its late summer but there was still some beautiful blooms everywhere. when its spring the place is loaded with almost every color. theres also a very wide variety of insects there you could spend days snapping pics but thats another thread. i noticed only 3 pics per thread and people doing series, I will probably try one of those later on. so for now heres some color for you.
first off is the state flower so i was thinking it needed a border and a name tag. i like the contrast with the black as well.
the next is a close up of a Morning Cloud Chitalpa, theres a good amount of these flowering right now and the whole tree is full of blooms.
and this last one i dont know what it is but i like the flowers colors and shape. it was really small as well less than an inch.

Beautiful images jmlphoto Seems as though I remember seeing a field of those poppies along PCH somewhere or maybe highway 99, not sure. Doesn't Hwy 99 paralell I-5 on the otherside of Gorman, like you are going to Lemore? Lots of agriculture going on around that area, mostly soy beans though, I think. Still I cannot remember where I saw them, been a long time ago.
oh yes ken come spring the upper valleys explode with color. some spots are golden, purple, and red as far as the eye can see. i will try to get around there next year to catch the valleys in bloom, its a really great site. there could be a few areas where you saw it but around there sounds about right, and yes theres tons of agriculture out there.
thanks beetleman i appreciate it. the compostition is all natural to me. i do graphic design on the side so getting things layed out the way they should be is just stuck in my head. im going back soon to snap up some more i have tons of pictures from just that one day.
and yes i love the poppys color. i cant wait till spring to get out to the fields that glow gold
