Winged Reproductive Termite, Zootermopsis angusticollis

This time of year I will sometimes see winged adult reproductive termites fluttering around at dusk.
I'm pretty sure this species is Zootermopsis angusticollis, the Pacific Dampwood Termite.

Nikon D200. Canon 35/2.8 photomacrography lens. 28 image stack using Helicon Focus

amazing. your photos are so well done, how do you collect all your bugs? do you put them in a jar or something? i couldnt bare to do that >.< haha

Super Stack Charles. I love the side profile view and everything is razor sharp as usual. The antennae and palps are fantastic

Good Lord! This one is magnificent, hadn´t seen it till now, but it´s worth bringing it up on the first ranks again, ´cos that´s where it belongs, IMO!

thats got to be one of the best macros i have ever seen. incredible the only tiny tiny thing is around the hair on the upper leg but that doesnt even matter compared to how good it is.

Your stack is great, but the really cool thing is the white diffuser (dome).

I normally use a Lumedyme flash with two flash heads on small boom arms instead of the small Nikon units pictured here (it was getting repaired at the time)

Jordan... yup. I missed that one stacking artifact. After you mentioned it that's all I could see

... so now it's gone!

Charles can you highlight this tiny thing, I might be 75 and I guess my eyes are getting weak, but i cannot see this?.

OK, this may be a new record for bumping old posts.

Prior to edward137's comment, the thread was over 10 years old -- previous last post was Sept 13, 2007.

grgh, I think you missed the fact that Charles replied to Jordan as follows:

Jordan... yup. I missed that one stacking artifact. After you mentioned it that's all I could see ... so now it's gone!

In other words, there's not supposed to be anything to see now -- the image has been edited to fix the problem!
