A sparrow in the hand is better than a pigeon on the roof?

Post by MacroLuv »

Or as Betty would say: “Ein Spatz in der Hand ist besser, als eine Taube auf dem Dach”. :D
Or Croatian: "Bolje vrabac u ruci nego golub na grani".
#1 - spider enjoying meal (a small fly) but better opportunity appears on the horizon.
#2 - spider is abandoning the little fly and grabbing the longhorn beetle.
#3 - seems that spider is holding the beetle very tight. But finally the beetle escaped. Obviously spider didn't find soft place fast enough to inject his poison.
Technically not good but interesting shots, though. :?

I like this series. You didn't have to tell that the spider failed.

Ganz recht Nikola, auf Deutsch wäre das ein passender Titel für Deine Bildsequenz! :D

Anyway, nice capture there of this spider´s behaviour, Nikola!

BTW, interesting that we share the same idiom in Croatian and German.
In likewise situations I´ve heard Brits say : A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. (Or something similar, if I remember correctly.)

Cheers,
Betty

Excellent captures Nikola. I wonder if spiders see colors and how do they pick or change colors to match the flowers? :-k
