I did see this little spider with funny socks very often but never get it in connection with "real" crab spider.

Yep Doug, I was excited all the time. If you spent eight or more hours each day hiking (like me on my vacation) than you always find something exciting.

Since males are usually smaller than females, favoring "big bottoms" is very common among spiders.
