Robberfly with hopper prey hanging from pine's needles

Post by MacroLuv »

Hopper was caught somewhere else. Robberfly come flying with it in her arms.
I've noticed defect on the left robberfly's eye possibly caused by pine's resin.
The place was high in the air, difficult to capture.
As you can see on the third pic, grashopper's antennae became loose and eye opaque.

<< ... difficult to capture. >>

'Sod's Law' generally prevails so that's almost always the case with the more interesting scenarios ? :)

Good hunting (and captures) tho' - well done (# 3'd get my vote, btw)

That must have been one big robber fly. I have never seen them catch that big a prey. The pine resin does not seem to be bothering him.....I hate that stuff when it gets on your hands and clothes  The full focus body shot in #3 is excellent.

Thanks guys! :D
Doug, once I got the pine resin on my hair. It is much more annoying, belive me. Couldn't wash it out. Only the scissors helped.
By the way, because of pine resin I've been worried for my lens holding the camera upward.
