In my garden
Returned from Utah yesterday and decided to go out and see what was in my garden.

Welcome back Sue. A very beautiful picture. There is something about the striking green color and the little hairs (not to mention the little creature) that make the flower stand out very nicely. I like the way the DOF plays with different parts of the subject, tack sharp on some things, subdued on others. It just seems like it fell right on the perfect plane for this subject. You could not ask for a better matching background. Awesome IMO.

Doug. This image was taken when there was a slight breeze. I think that accounts for the subdued areas as well as the background blurr. The background consists of more plants and they were blowing more so than the one I was photographing and the result is that nice streak of color. It is a techinque I learned in one of my classes, only it involved intentionally moving the camera or zooming the lense while holding the shutter down, but works well with the wind blowing.
Ken. Yep I have been in Utah. Beautiful state and one that lends itself to photography very nicely. Back for a few weeks and then off to southern california for a week. I hope that is the end of it for a bit.
