Meal Time...

Maybe a happy meal for the Lady Bug but not a happy time for the meal itself. This image is a bit soft and that is intentional. The blue channel pulled slightly and the image left unsharpened gives it and the colors a warm look, though the meal, an aphid or what is left of it, is just bearly visible.

For a while I have been using my EF 100mm macro but I have a tendency to want to get up close and personal with my subjects and the 100mm gives me fits with DOF when I do that. Though I could back off from the subject, I don't. A bad habit I suppose left over from when I used to use my Fuji FinePix S7000. Anyway I like my 60mm better anyway, it is much lighter and more versitile. Probably my best choice for a walk around lens, considering my interests, since I have not been able to decide on any one particular zoom lens.

Usually there are more than one aphid around...it looks like she finished them all up on this section of plant

Probably so Doug. I read that a single Lady Bug will eat as many as 50 aphids a day. Wonder what their cholesterol count is?
