It's a lovely flower -- I really like those rich purple stigmas. :D (At least, I assume those are stigmas. :-k )

Now that Nikola called my attention to it, I'm picking up the petal texture as a distraction too. Maybe it's especially obvious at upper left because that's where my eye starts? :? And while I'm thinking "Art print, art print!", I'm noticing where the foreground petals partially obscure the right-hand stamens. Makes me want to haul out a shift/tilt lens (which I don't actually have!), and move the viewpoint a bit to the right, while keeping the overall framing and focus just the way they are now...

I think I need to get back to technical stacking. All this aesthetic stuff is starting to affect my vision. :D

I'm starting to see things that were not obvious in the first place Rik also. A lady on another forum pointed out that if you take that sticking out petal on the lower right as a nose and the stigma's as eyes you have a face!

Yes the red things are stigma's.

You do indeed! And a most amusing theatrical face it is! I am having visions of Sesame Street's Big Bird in a high class Broadway production.

Thanks!

Big Bird! A beautiful photograph until you all brought up the "sunny day" stuff. Yeah it does look like a face but it would have taken me sometime to notice it and the intruding petals also. Why would petal textures be distracting? I always try to key in on texutres like that. Must have missed that conversation somewhere along the way. :-k

Another fine closeup, Dave. It's good to see some of the plants in your collection. I don't find the texture in the petals a distraction at all. Kepp up the good work.
