Mammillaria lutheyi magnification sereies continued.

Post by cactuspic »

This is a contiuation of a series of 5 images, the first 3 of which were posted yesterday. These images, together, behave as a fractal. The last two pics in the series are taken at 5x lifesize and 9-10 times lifesize (based on approximation of actual focal lenth of my Canon 65mm MP-e at 5x with 134mm of extension added) Hope you enjoy.

Yes, very unusual spines on Mammillaria lutheyi. The spine itself has a radiating "parachute" of additional spines at it's tip. Something so far unique within the Cactaceae I believe.

It sure is a very unique looking cactus. I bet you are glad you did not throw it away on first impulse. And again the stacks are wonderfully done. :smt023

Thanks Doug. The best thing for me about macro is the sense of discovery.

I am working on adding to the series by on taking a higher mag shot that will isolate on of the little umbrellas. I need to get my hands on some Higher mag optics first. Just what I need, more glass.
