After Libellula depressa this is my second dragonfly from Lonjsko Polje Nature Park.
More than 37 species of damselflies and dragonflies there!
Handheld, no cropping.

WOW Nikola...#2 & 3 are stunning. What a beautiful creature. The focus and DOF in pic 3 are excellent and I love the background, makes you really focuses on the dragonfly. I bet you have a big smile on your face with these photos

Nice capture, Nikola. I really like #3. The colors & focus are really nice and as Doug mentioned, the softened background really draws your eyes to the beautiful dragon. I noticed you changed your aperture & shutter speed to get the different results. Was this the same stick or did you follow him to another?

Craig, on all three is the same dragonfly (individual) but all slightly (up to few meters) different places (and sticks). I followed him up.

Macroluv, look at the hairs on the body (thorax), and you see more (or longer) hair than most dragonflies have. This is typical for dragonflies which emerge early in the season, and it must act as insulation against low temperatures.
