Golden Veronica

A small plant, growing in my garden. There's no label, but I be willing to bet on Veronica repens "Sunshine" (Golden Creeping Speedwell).



Here's a closer crop. Flower width 9 mm.



Yes, this really is the color of the stuff. Veronicas usually have blue flowers and green leaves. I'm tempted to say "It's amazing what you can get to grow with enough tender loving care." But in fact, this plant seems to do just fine even against fair to middling competition. How that works, I have no idea. It spends half its life dormant, and the other half looking on the edge of death, but every year the patch is a little bigger. Something to take inspiration from, perhaps?

Oh yeah, this Veronica...I thought, well, er...never mind Yes, quite lovely indeed. I have never noticed any around here, though I never looked because I never knew they existed until now that is. Are they native only to your neck of the woods Rik or can they be found elsewhere? Inquiring minds want to know.

Native? Oh, heavens no! I don't know if they're native to anywhere. I suspect a greenhouse sport.

Yes, a beautiful yellow, mixes well with the browns of the leaf litter.

No wonder why it was called golden!
Although golden color is predominant or in spite of this ( ), many other colors and details are showing brilliantly!
