Hi folks,
Had a very pleasant walk with Maggy in Salcey Wood about 8 miles from where I live. I came across a stand of maybe 30 to 40 Yellow Archangel (Lamiastrum galeobdolon) in a mossy and quite dark part of the wood. Fortunately a small area had filtered sunlight and I took several photos laying down on the moss.
An interesting website with info. on this species is:

It sure has an interesting shape to the flower. Almost orchid like and It has its own little rain cover. Looking at the name, you would think it has a dark side to it (dead nettle family). Doing a little searching did not uncover anything sinister It is an introduced plant in the USA, not in my state yet, but in the next state Massachusetts and a few others. Beautiful photo.

Thanks for your comments Doug .
You're right, the flower is rather orchid like and really quite attracive. I have occasionally seen a silver leaved cultivar for sale in garden centres. Personally I prefer the plant in its standard form as the dark green leaves provide a more pleasing foil to the yellow flowers.
