Well...er...um...uh, some ants

Post by Ken Ramos »

The wind is howling around the eaves of the house, trees are down all over, and the power went out at work so we got the rest of the day off. Luckly I have power at home...for now  Here's more of my ant shots, maybe not the greatest but... :D

Never have I seen black aphids before, maybe the sudden change in our temperatures got to them, maybe they are frost bitten :?:  . That "Nor-Easter" has really brought them, the temperatures, down here of late but it is beginning to warm up again. \:D/

Not really sure what those last two are "gooning" over but what ever it is it seemed as though they liked it. :-k

Very nice photos Ken. Maybe the second insect is some kind of scale insect. They like to ooz out sticky stuff. I agree, the wind was really blowing last night here also.

We got a little snow here in the mountains but not really enough to say grace over. The straight line winds have really been the news maker around here, besides all that shooting at VA Tech. Wasn't that a shocker?!

I never thought of it but maybe that is some sort of scale insect in the last image, that the ants are gooning over. Lots of insects ooze honeydew. :-k

Thanks Doug :D

My first thought is also scale insect. They are really nice ants on your second picture.

Thanks Péter :D This time of year there are so many things waking up or crawling out of something or another, that you are not really sure what you have sometimes.
