My Little Touch of Spring

Post by beetleman »

No Spring here yet. I have to get my spring shots from the store. My wife went shopping and brought this home yesterday. The plant tag says "LEWISIA", native to the mountains of the western USA, zones 3-10. it will be going out to the garden "whenever" (whenever it warms up-whenever the snow melts  ) A low growing plant , rosette of green fleshy leaves. It is blooming now, so what better time to take pictures right! Third picture is a stack of 16 pictures using Helicon Focus. Anyone else notice the latest version is a little flaky--errors on shutdown. All are full frame, no cropping, some USM applied.

Really a beautiful flower there Doug. It is nice to have a little fresh color around the house during the winter or what should be spring, to brighten up ones mood. I would imagine your snow should be going away soon, I hope. What ever happened to that "global warming" thing everyone was so up in arms about :-k

Thanks Ken. We are under a winter storm warning right now...we are getting a "Nor-easter" as we call it here. The low is coming up the coast from your area and the winds come out of the northeast. Right know it is Snowing big time..heavy wet flakes. Supposed to be like this for most of the week  it is very unusual weather for spring.

Three nicely crafted images Doug. Pics 2 and 3 are perfectly exposed to preserve the delicate translucence of the petals and they both show excellent detail in the stamens too.

We're in the middle of what passes for a springtime heatwave here in southern England (high 70's F) and are being forecast a record, long, hot summer. :D
