The European Grass (and/or Water) Snake or Ringed Snake - Natrix natrix.
It can reach up to two meters in various colours and shades.
The common colours are; gray to brown with two stripes of flecks along the back side, sometimes turning into blue, green or gray-blue colour. Sometimes it is completely black. The sure sign of recognition is a characteristic collar behind the head, yellow in males an white in females, which explains the alternative name ringed snake.
An excellent swimmer, diver and climber. It can be found near the rivers, lakes and mires hinding uder stones, roots and inside the ground holes.
Their menu is consisting of frogs, tadpoles, amphibians, fishes and little mammals.
Not being venomous, their only defenses are to produce a foul-smelling fluid from the anal glands and/or feigning death by becoming completely limp.
Sometimes, they will also perform fake attacks, striking without actually opening their mouths. They bite in defense rarely.
Its common name here is bjelouška ("whiteeared").
As looking at me from the hole on the first photograph; you can see me and my camera with the background behind me in its eye.
By the way, all photographs are without cropping.
P.S.
I hope Mike would be delighted.

Wonderful photos and creature Nikola. I like the second one (looks like you used the flash) and the third one is a beautiful habitat photo. Reminds me of our Garter & Ribbon Snakes (Thamnophis) they do the same menu and the "foul-smelling fluid" thing Nice work
