Another Lady Bug but something is growing on it...

Post by Ken Ramos »

To early to be the fungus I thought but then again a parasite does not necessarily have to be a fungus. This was taken a couple of weeks ago at work, though I was still a bit ill, I was not going to let it deter me from my lunch time walk around the plant grounds. Wonder what that is growing out of the side of the Lady Bug? :-k

Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro (my favorite lens of course)

Blue channel pulled down slightly, using Photo Impact 6, to soften or warm the lighting :)

A little tough to tell, but I am thinking it may just be pollen.

Could be there Gordon, it is a little hard to tell. I enlarged the image some to see if I could get any more detail from it but I could not. You are probably right about it being pollen though, sort of leafy looking but it very well could be. Thanks Gordon :D

Ken,
Your subject was more cooperative than mine. I tried to get a shot of one this morning but it never stopped long enough to shoot. The breeze defeated any chance to shoot any flowers. I did get some llama pictures this afternoon.

Thanks DougM :D Yeah Lady Bugs can be a pain at times because they rarely are still long enough for a shot. This was just a fortunate occurance I guess. :D

WOW Ken, that would have been a nice subject for your Meiji, unless it was pollen and just rubbed off  oops, I see some aphid burgers in the photo also..."lunchtime"

Those aphids, I noticed them too but only after the download, are probably what is keeping this Lady Bug so still. No since in scaring off your dinner.

Thanks Doug :D
