What a beautiful flower that cactus has. A wonderful hot purple-pink and an excellent photo Dave. Lots of spines on that little baby also  I love that black background!!!

That is a beautiful flower coming from a cactus. I just don't seem to have time for things such as these, I wish I did :( The colors sort of make it look "hot" in places but subjects such as this can be a pain to photograph, however, you did a great job in bringing us this image Dave. Very nice. :D

Many of the cacti do have pretty vibrant colours and many of the what used to be called Neoporteria do have pretty hot "lipstick pink" flowers!

Those colours are pretty well true to life, there are some cacti with flowers even more colourful! As you can see from the white spines and stigma lobes there is no enhanced colour.

Some cacti of course have fairly "bland" flowers but usually many of them. See:-

The black background is out of focus black velvet Doug. It is probably the contrast between this and the flowers that makes them appear more vibrant than they normally would against a coloured background. The colours do not change, only the eye is fooled!
