You know I have never seen a butterly with these type of markings. They look as though they were painted on. Judging by the size the the flower on which it rests, it must be a very small butterfly. Beautiful image Nikola :D

Nikola, this is a nice shot of one of spring's best butterflies! :D

Ken, the dark markings of Anthocharis (the orange-tips) are a lot like those of Euchloe (the marbles), for example shown in my post here. The marks are due to a mix of black and green-yellow scales, substituting for white.

I like your characterization that these marks look painted on. They are much more randomly textured and less related to the pattern of veins, than most butterflies spots and stripes.
