An organism on Java Moss ??

Post by Dusko »

Hi to all :)
I hope you don't mind me posting such a bad quality photo ( I am still saving for a better lens), but I have no other place to ask this question;
Is anyone familiar with this micro organism growing on this Java moss plant?
I have already received some nice info in the past on this forum and for that I thank you :)
Kind regards, Dusko.

mmm Interesting shot. They look rather like Vorticella.

I will agree with Gordon on the ID. It is a very interesting picture because the creature is to scale with the plant...you don`t see this point of view too often. :wink:

Thanks for your feedback :) that was helpful. I am trying to look much deeper into my aquarium Ecosystem and see what many others rather simply ignore...those amazing little critters :P There is so much going on in there;
I was initially trying to make a microscopic picture of my Red Cherry Shrimp (hand held + flash used against black aquarium background)

And later got carried away :wink:

Thanks again.

Been thinking about this one.After much soul searching I am now more inclined to think it is Stentor.

More than likely they are Stentors or at least they appear to be. Neat shot of the shrimp too :D
