"The collective noun romp is used to refer to a group of otters." [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otter]

I have no idea what a "warm" might be, but I eagerly anticipate having a good groan.

Congratulations Rik, the 10 points and the gold star are yours :D - and I applaud some very clever detective work earlier on too =D>

When you figured "maybe badger but smaller" you were very close indeed. However, I knew it was always gonna be necessary for me to give a clue or two at some point...

..."and WARM too" = HOTTER = OTTER . Note: Dropping the leading "h" in everyday speech is fairly common in many areas of England.

Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun and had a go - very much appreciated!

Here's a whole view of a nose of an otter for comparison:

Ben - Thanks for posting your otter pic. It shows a lot more age and character than mine does (I'll be posting 3 images shortly). I obtained my skull from a dealer in the UK (via eBay) and it is a very young specimen (still has some milk teeth) with nowhere near the bone weight and density that is evident in your photo. ...and tough luck on being pipped at the "post" by Rik :D

Mike - Thanks for the support and for your humour :smt044. ...Stoat fellow! :D

Doug - Glad you enjoyed the fun ...oh and re. your earlier posting, my dog walking buddy has lent me (what I think is) a small Nile crocodile skull to have a go at photographing. I believe these come from croc farms in South Africa. So I'm now trying to figure how to pose it to best advantage.

Bruce :D
