Amazon - 2 Butterflies / 1 Dragonfly

Post by crotermund »

This first butterfly was a dainty little thing. The large slabs that she was resting on were actually a pile of fish scales. She appeared to be enjoying a small amount of shade provided by the log in the background. A little reprieve from the scorching hot sun.

I remember when I stumbled onto her Ken was tracking a dragonfly all over the place. I can still recall his frustrated tone as he said, "These things just never land." It was funny because we thought we had stumbled onto a dragonfly photographer's dream, but they never seemed to stop flying.

I then looked to the right of the log and shot this guy. Sometimes they just seem to come to you. :D

This last butterfly is from the beach area just off the Amazon tributary where we spent so much time.

I really like #2. The dragonfly is beautiful, but my eyes keep getting drawn to the opposite curves and barbs of it's perch.

What a beautiful blue on #1 Craig. All three are excellent IMO. Are the fish scales from you fish??

No, Bruce, the scales aren't from my fish. I did walk away from this lake with a very healthy stringer of Peacock Bass, though, except for one that a hawk decided to eat while it was on the stringer. It was awesome. 8) :D
