Mating Tiger Beetles

These beetles require special stalking and usually don't stick around for long before they fly to the next spot. You sneak up on them and they move again. Anyway, these two seemed to be preoccupied for a little longer than normal. They were shot on the bank of the beautiful Upper Iowa River last Summer.

Excellent photos. I know how tough these are to sneak up upon. Hairy critters with nice focus.
