Amazon Pics Part 51

Post by Moebius »

For the next week or so, the setting for all my pics is the sandy shore of the river/lake. They were captured during a fishing trip (hard to fish with all these insects buzzing around begging to be photographed).

Quite large, size of a small bumblebee

One of many beautiful butterflies. This one is on top of some fish scales.

As you will see in upcoming photos, it was hard to isolate individual butterflies, as they intermingled with hundreds of other butterflies and bees/wasps to form a swarm.

Absolutely stunning photos!

I love pic1 - crisp detail, great eyes and interesting rear-facing bristles on the thorax and abdomen.

The butterfly in pic2 is just beautiful and you have exposed really well for the reds which can so easily be over-blown.

The veination and colour of pic3 is gorgeous and the form is so elegant - 5 star eye candy!

Thanks for the comments bruce. Odd that we hardly saw any butterflies at all on the trip except for near the sandy shores. Never saw any type of flowering plant in bloom.

Beautiful pics, Ken. As you mentioned it was "hard to fish with all these insects buzzing around begging to be photographed". Fishing was also difficult this particular morning because the natives had just netted the lake where we were fishing for peacock bass. Anyway, what we experienced was like a butterfly paradise seeing swarms of exotic butterflies flying all over the place. I can't wait to see the rest of the pics from this exciting morning.
