Painted Lady in Arizona!

Post by crocoite »

Hi all

I got back to Tassie yesterday after just over a week in Tucson, Arizona. Spent half a day with Gary and got to see the hummingbirds in real life (see Gary's post - http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... php?t=1674). It was really good to be able to meet up with Gary too. He lives in a wonderful spot. Hope to be able to return the favour some day Gary :D

Anyway, in Tucson, near the Convention Centre, I took this photo of a painted lady butterfly (Vanessa-cardui)...

I love the butterflies. I was in Yuma, AZ last week myself and loved the weather. This is a nice full wingspread of the bf.

Thanks Sue. The weather was good. I had come from Summer here in Tas so it was a nice surprise, especially as Tucson had snow a week or two before!

Thanks Doug. Hope you enjoy them when they do get there. Lots of them about in Tucson. Also a yellow which I am trying to identify. Don't have a very good photo to share though.

Wow Steve, I love all three of your photos from "home", but especially this butterfly. And that is a golden barrel by the way.

I really enjoyed meeting you and our time together. It seems you brought the good weather with you, and we are still having it. I am looking forward to a trip to Tasmania one of these days and will take you up on the offer :D

By the way, the hummers continue to duke it out!
