Gmelinite/Chabazite Intergrowth...

Post by crocoite »

This is a crystal of intergrown gmelinite and chabazite, two closely-related zeolite minerals. It occurs in cavities in basalt rocks at Flinders, Victoria. Crystal is about 3mm across.

Hi Doug. Its partly through the shape (or "habit") but also something that can often only be identified through scientific analysis.
