Closer look at T. Versicolor and Phlebia sp.

Post by Bruce Williams »

Hi Folks,

Pic1

The first pic is a close-up on the Green Man posting. Doug originally made the suggestion (confirmed by Ken Ramos) that the green colour was caused by an algae. Steve Valley commented on the banding effect. This shot shows the surface and banding more clearly (I should point out that the moss-like surface texture is present on all T. versicolor regardless of colour (will add example to this posting later).

I have much closer images but to be honest they don't add particularly to the information present at this magnification. The fungal pad is approx. 22mm across.

Pic2 and Pic3

The next two pics are close-ups on the pink jelly fungus (Phlebia sp.) and I'm posting them - well because I quite like them :D .

I like them too Bruce. Living in a college town, I see stuff like the Jelly fungi sprout up overnight on the sidewalk...espically after Friday night or a big ballgame

Eeew! :smt087

You know algae seem to colonize most everything. I think we don't give them enough credit for their efforts. Like peanut butter and crackers, algae and fungi are never far apart. Where ever you find one, the other is lurking somewhere near by (quit laughing, I am trying to be philosophical here  ). Nice images Bruce :D

#3 looks delicious! :D

Jelly Pudding Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup leftover jelly
1 cup fresh thick cream
1/2 cup sugar powdered
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla essence
1/2 cup slice fruit of choice (kiwi, lemon, mango, papaya, chickoo)

Method

Chop jelly into small cubes, keep aside half, in refrigerator. Whip cream with sugar, till thick enough to form peaks.
Blend remaining half jelly crystals, in mixie. Add milk, blend for a few seconds till frothy and smooth.
Chill for an hour or till thick but not set. Stir in whipped cream, fruit, pour and chill till well set.
Serve topped with a scoop of icecream or slice fruit.
The meaning of beauty is in sharing with others.

P.S.
Noticing of my "a" and "the" and other grammar
errors are welcome. :D

I sometimes get the feeling that my work, my art, my contribution to the spiritual advancement of mankind IS NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Images TORN from the very essence of my being. A man bears his soul to the world and what does he get in return....
