Sundew in a Jar Revisited

This is my Drosera falconeri sundew in the cookie jar again. It is doing very well. See my older post here.. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... php?t=1409

It has grown some nice new leaves and appears very healthy. The jar is totally sealed and is kept very warm and humid. It has been developing some nice moss inside the jar, so I decided to take some pictures of them. The first picture shows the sundew and the surrounding area in the jar. The second picture is moss #1, a stack of 51 pictures using HF. I do not spray the inside of the jar, so the drops of water are forming from the moss. The third picture is moss #2, a stack of 31 pictures using HF. I really did not pay that much attention to the moss, so I do not know if they are the same and moss #2 is a later stage of #1. Will have to keep a better eye on them (I have the pictures now

Nice photos Doug.

I like Pic2. It has a feeling of delicacy and "on the edge" ephemerality - tap the monitor screen and all those perfectly formed spheres of water will tumble to the earth.

On an equally "down to earth" matter, how long can you keep the plant going in a sealed container like that? I presume you'll need to feed at some point?

Thanks for the comments guys...Bruce, actually the jars are just sealed with plastic wrap to help keep the humidity up. I do open them up a couple of times a week to let some fresh are in. Once the summer comes around I plan on putting the jars outside when it becomes hotter and more humid. Remember, they still Photosynthesize food and supplment their nitrogen with insects. I can reach in and put small ants on the leafs also (if it wasn`t -18C outside

Well Doug, I don't know about the mosses but it seems as though I may have seen a Sundew at one time and not have known it. Nice images.

That's a really nice set of pics, Doug!

I especially like the little "you are here" markers ("1" and "2") on the first picture. They give me a great feel for how everything fits together, without either intruding too much into the first picture, or leaving me thrashing around checking details, trying to be sure "oh yeah, this is that leaf, and, uh..."

Very nice, indeed.
