Ladybird Larvae...

Post by crocoite »

They don't look much like their parents do they? Species is possibly Coccinella transversalis...

They may not look like their parents but they sure eat like them (which is a good thing). Are you shooting in the cameras macro mode? I forgot what camera you have.

Hi Doug

Its my new camera, a Sony DSC W70, and yes, set macro on, get as close as possible, half press shutter to focus, and click!

That larva is as ugly as it is voracious. :D Good capture. I can see that a relative of the squash bug left its calling card when it sucked the juices out of the leaf previously.

Very nice Steve! :D
Maybe you can get even more macro capabilities from your Sony camera with some Raynox macro/close-up conversion lenses.

Thanks Irwin, thanks Nikola

...and thanks for the link Nikola. Unfortunately not for me. Mine is a W70 not a W7. Can't attach any lenses on mine...

O yes you can Steve, I think that lenses could be used on both cameras, SONY Cyber-shot DSC-W7 and SONY Cyber-shot DSC-W70 , according to this Russian site these adapters/lenses are recommended accessories for both cameras.
("Рекомендуемые аксессуары к цифровой фотокамере Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W70")
("Рекомендуемые аксессуары к цифровой фотокамере Sony CyberShot DSC-W7")
You need Sony VAD-WA adapter and Raynox UAC-3500 adapter for macro/close-up and Raynox RA3730 adapter for wide/tele.
Besides, with Sony SPK-WA you can even make underwater photographs from depths up to 10 feet!
