Amazon Pics Part 17

Post by Moebius »

First one is about 2 cm long. Haven't seen grasshoppers here up north that are poop mimics.

I did not see too many "normal" looking flies like we have here in the US. This is one of the few:

A haven't shown many butterfiles, as most of those I got later in the trip when we were fishing in a sandy area where they were getting minerals from the wet sand. This is one of the few I saw in jungle type environment. This was not the time of year for flowering plants (I saw not a single flower down there)

Interesting observations, Ken. I've never seen a grasshopper mimic poop either. (The ones around here mostly do dry grass and sand!)

Even though there weren't many, those butterflies posed well for you. :D

The hopper does look like bird poop  . You have any room on your next trip  I will carry your stuff :smt023. The fly is super sharp and a great background.

I like the fly pic too, nice colour balance and it really stands out from the background - it's stance reminds me a bit of a gargoyle on a Gothic cathedral.

I am afraid this trip may be it for awhile, at least trips on this type of scale. Next one I take will be someplace like DisneyWorld so that the family and kids can come along. This was the trip of the lifetime and don't expect another...though who knows.'

btw...I assume they have insects around all those flowers at Disney World?

Actually, what we need on this forum is an international exchange of lodging. For example, Macroluv, I will come to your house to stay and you will come to mine for a couple weeks (leave wife alone please). I get your local insects and you get mine....then onwards to the next members house....hey, I might have something here....
