Pyromorphite from Broken Hill...

Post by crocoite »

Broken Hill is famous for its spectacular minerals. This is an exceptionally nice green pyromorphite (a lead phosphate mineral).

Specimen is 50mm across...

Very beautiful green on that specimen Steve and a great looking studio shot also. The light box you build is working perfectly IMO. I like the gradiant it makes in the background.

It looks like a bowl shaped marine algae.

After all that time in the Amazon, I can believe it. Hate to be a critic but it looks like a rotten brussel sprout to me  Naw just kidding but it does sort'a. I don't know a lot about rocks, so posts like these educate me some. Thanks Steve. :D

Thanks Doug. I took a whole heap of photos yesterday and today using that setup so I might find another one or two to post...

No quite the opposite. I really liked Brussel Sprouts and still do enjoy them from time to time. :D

I'm partial to them too. In fact, we have an unusual family in that both our kids also like them!

This is a beauty, I've never seen one like it! Great subject, well photographed. The light box is nice indeed.

I actually think brussel sprouts are okay...Had never had them until I was in my late teens and early 20s, when I ate a lot of institutional food for awhile (University dorms and Army mess halls, not the type of institution you were thinking!) and we got sprouts a lot 'cause they were cheap! But I actually developed a taste for them in moderation.
