All three photographs were taken handheld. She is fast only when snatching some prey. This lady was very companionable. I spent several hours with her.Moebius wrote:Wow, beautiful pics. I love the mantids you have in your part of the world.

When you shoot these mantids, do you use a tripod? I am guessing they would be a good candidate, since they don't run off usually.

Cool little gal! I've seen some cool mantids shot in the Everglades and similar places, but most of our mantids in the USA look bland compared to some overseas. There is one in Southeast Asia that looks like an orchid. I'd love to photograph them, but had to settle for seeing 'em on television once.
