Sidewinder rattlesnake eye in High Key

The unusual eye and strange arching protective scale on this little guy are pretty distinctive. He's truly a little guy, only about two feet long. As best as I can guestimate, this is about 3x or 3.5x. I was fascinated by the fine structure in the eye, so included a small 100% crop of the edge of the pupil.

You can see the pit that gives pit vipers their name at lower left, out of focus.

Yep I would say you got pretty close on this one too Mike. Just don't try no "dripping fang" shots. Those can be fatal you know. Great shot here, just stay behind the glass though. :D
