Ready for Anything

This banded rock rattlesnake (Crotalus Lepidus klauberi) is small, but he's ready for anything! He's only about two feet long, pretty small as adult rattlesnakes go. This guy is captive, but his wild brethren live in Texas, New Mexico, and "old" Mexico.

Looks as though it is smiling for the camera there Mike, what a ham. Seems to blend in quite well with its background, pretty nice shot of the fangy critter. :D

That's a pretty cool shot. It's full of kinetic energy...the moment before he springs and strikes! I notice you used a 180mm macro. Why didn't you use a 60mm? HaHa

Hey a 60mm is my favorite macro lens and I, being the phobic that I am, shoot spiders with it.

I don`t think he is smiling....I think he wants to play with Mike. Beautiful picture and reptile Mike
