Non-Ghost rattler with tongue

This is the same species as the "ghost rattler" I posted a couple of days ago, but this one has his normal coloration. He's interested in my flash, and is exploring around to see if something edible is part of the excitement. To get the most information possible, he's sampling the atmosphere by sticking his tongue out rapidly to see if he can pick up the scent of anything interesting.

Have you also the photographs of inside mouth tissue? Wonder if only the tongue is black. :-k

Here's a shot of a different snake of the same species....You can just see this guy's black tongue in the shot, but as you can tell, the inside of his mouth is white with a little amount of pink color. I haven't gotten closer than this to the open mouth of a diamondback rattlesnake, sorry! :shock:

That was actually a speckled rattlesnake rather than a diamondback, but here he is....
