It's true that they are not directly interchangeable. However, there are Wild adapters for this. I just bought a Wild M3Z that comes with the M8 Plan 1x lens via adapter.

Those eyepieces are exactly the same as the ones that I am getting with the M3Z. They are supposed to be among the best Wild ever made.

That ergo head is interesting. But apparently it does not work with an ergo wedge or with HV/HU phototubes. I assume it has perfect alignment of prisms inside?

Is it just a tube? The Leica setup is a descendant from the Leitz camera hookups (which Wild had apparently incorporated lone before they bought Leitz) and I wonder if any of the Leitz photo setup stiff would procide a suitable part. Wild might not have made a planapo for the m8, but the Leica M50/m60/m80 objectives are also 58mm thread and should be compatible.
