Re: Recommendations for 20x objective for timelapse?

I am mostly using Nikon Z-series cameras with FX size sensors. I also have a Sony camera with an APS-C size sensor. So I use both sizes but more so full sized sensors.

Re: Recommendations for 20x objective for timelapse?

Oh thanks very good to know. Are there better online stores for North America that you'd recommend?

Recommendations for 20x objective for timelapse?

Hi. I am about to start experimenting with a 20x objective and am looking for recommendations. I will be using it for focus stacked timelapses of moss growth with a Cognisys Stackshot rail. My budget is $300-800 USD. I only have experience with a 10x Nikon CFI objective (MRL00102), so I was thinking...

Re: Powered IR trigger for Sony a6300?

To anyone who's interested, I ended up devising a RPI-based IR trigger for the Sony a6300. Took a bit of work but it should be very versatile. :)

Powered IR trigger for Sony a6300?

Hi. I am trying to use my new Sony a6300 for focus stacking with my Stackshot rail. I want to have it shoot tethered via USB while also being triggered by USB, and I now see that there's only one USB port. Triggering via IR would be the simplest option. Does anyone know of an IR camera trigger that'...

Re: Sharpness of microscopic photos at 10x?

With the lens focus method can you do movements of a few microns that you can do with the Stackshot that are so useful in microscopy? How precise is it? Yes, this works fine, assuming that the lens uses internal focus so that the objective does not move as focus changes. A good way of thinking abou...

Re: Sharpness of microscopic photos at 10x?

Thank you *so much* everyone for the great advice. I've read it over a couple times and am gradually wrapping my head around all the concepts. Looks like the main thing was having the 105 mm lens focused at 1:1 instead of at infinity. I got a Nikon Nikkor Q 200mm lens (from the '60s!) today and it's...

Re: Sharpness of microscopic photos at 10x?

You are pushing the objective way put of spec with the 105mm lens, but that shouldn't hurt center performance. This objective can take great photos when set up right, and tjis dwfinitely looks like underperforming. Just to be sure, thr polarizer is between the objective and lens and the lens is foc...

Re: Sharpness of microscopic photos at 10x?

Thanks for the response. Yeah I thought Plagiomnium too. I am using the Nikon 105mm f/2.8 FX AF MICRO-NIKKOR (1990-2007) with an aperture of f/4.8. There's also a ProMaster circular polarizing filter right before the 10x objective. The quality of the objective would be the simplest explanation! The ...

Sharpness of microscopic photos at 10x?

Hi. I am relatively new to doing focus stacking using microscopic objectives. I am shooting a moss with a Nikon CFI Plan 10X Achromat objective attached to a Nikon Z7 45 MP mirrorless camera and am noticing that the focus stacked images are a bit blurry when zoomed in at 100%. If I view the photo at...

That's what I was thinking. I'll just get the RS motor, thanks a lot!

Interchangeability of stepper motors?

Hello. I am trying to make this DIY focus stacking set-up: https://github.com/Biomaker/Gametophyte-Fern-photography-2018/blob/master/CostingToCopySystem.md It says you need a RS Pro Hybrid Stepper Motor (0.9°, 44 Ncm, 2.8 V, 1.68 A, 4-wire motor): https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/dc-motors/5350401/ Ho...
