new web
Hello friends. I've been working on recently in several articles in which I collaborate by taking photomicrographs of minerals. Yesterday we published at last a new website where we will show our studies of mining sites we visited. It is an unpretentious site, but we have placed much illusion in it....

Exchange ring flash for macro
Some time ago I have gotten a ring flash Sigma EM 140 DG thinking about shooting my minerals without having to worry too much about lighting, but the results do not like me. The lighting is so flat that the relief of the stones disappears and as most of these are almost monochromatic, the result is ...

I use rechargeable batteries. I have two packs, one in the flash and the other in a charger. I have "burn" my first Yongnuo flash because I shot too pictures in a small lapse of time, when I shot for stacking. Now I shot a picture every 4" aprox., is a little slowly but I´m sure that I have no vibra...

idea to fight the diffraction?
After carefully reading this thread, http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14811&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= I ask if anyone has considered to use a microscope objective of higther increase (ej. 20x) with less projection distance to get the magnification that provides...

I use cheap microscope objectives in my photos. As Charles said, I can only use the 4x and 10x because the working distance is very small and the 20x is almost in contact with the sample to be photographed. They show no chromatic aberration but the spherical correction at the edges of the image is p...

Have you got a photo of your setup? It might be useful to see how you're taking the images :) Also, how do you diffuse & reflect the light - and do you use a lens hood? I show my setup in an older post. Now I use two flashes and as diffuser I have a lot of white plastic one-use cups and I cut it as...

Thanks, Rik. Yes, I shoot with flash. I even left the room while doing the series of images. And I always shot at ISO 100, which is the lowest value that my Canon allows. I use Zerene, but I've only managed to use the method Pmax. Anyway, I have compared the image after Zerene with one of the indivi...

Well, the door is now open ... I admire the quality and sharpness of many of the images published in this forum. And I fought with objectives and photoshop to try to get something. Maybe my camera is very old (Canon 350D) and some of my objectives do not have the best possible quality, but I have so...
