Thanks for the clarification, looks like things may have changed, though of course there are many many images classified (honourable etc.). On your last point, I will be interested to hear from others, but as I understand it, ( and this is one of the interesting things about competitions like this) ...

I used to enter the Nikon Small World and the Olympus Bioscapes comps, back when Michael Davidson was involved. However, I was rather put off the former by the fact that merely entering seems to give them right to use your photographs where and when they want, irrespective of whether they are 'place...

Re: WTB (UK) Century precision optics 4+ diopter

Anyone? I don't have one of these, but I do have an Olympus MCON-35, a high-quality close-up attachment lens originally for the Olympus E-10 camera. It is fitted with a 62-mm front thread and is multi-element achromatic. The focal length of the MCON-35 is 35 cm (according to Olympus), which transla...

Re: Nikon SMZ-2T and camera connection

I have one of these with the photo tube which I understand is not the generally popular 38mm size. Ebay seller Amoyca2011 does s couple of plain tubes, one short one long, and one 0.5x - I'm not sure which I'd need . https://bit.ly/2CXQHev I'd like to use a camera such as ebay 113323869694 or 30299...

I rather think that shipping to the UK may be too expensive, but will ask anyway.

I didn't realise you could tell what I am a regular user of ! To explain... I just followed the link in your signature to Flickr and looked around. It seemed to me from pixel-peeping some of the macro examples, where I was pretty comfortable that I knew the subject, that they were probably stacks w...

I am intrigued and puzzled by the question/suggestion being discussed here. Reviewing portfolios, I also see -- or at least I think I do -- that both Harald and Photomicro are regular users of fairly deep stacks. Do you guys ever publish individual frames to accompany the stacked result? Why or why...

Re: suggestion for photography through the microscope

There must be very many forum members and guest who look upon the results shown by members, and stop and think i like to try that?. Not every one has the facilities to start stacking, consequently they get very disappointed when viewing through the microscope similar subjects. Would it be to much o...

This is for infinity systems, so presumably, a type F head for 160 tube optics, such as the Optiphot and Labophot series is not suitable. As a general question, perhaps someone can clarify where the telans optics or tube lens, whatever you wish to call it, is located in the Nikon infinity systems. ...

Thought I ought to report back. The one from Bristol cameras arrived in just a few days, and fits fine. Since the ones from China were only 99p each, I ordered the pair as suggested to do it in 2 stages. Unsurprisingly, these have yet to arrive. I will let you know how I get on with these. Thanks fo...

step up/down rings

I am trying to find a ring so that I can fit an accessory that is 42mm screw thread (male) to a filter thread on the lens (female) of 46mm. Many vendors seem to be very confused as to whether they consider this a 'step up' or 'step down' model, with one contradicting the other. However, even searchi...

I guess that we are going to find them mentioned in older texts such as Lefkowitz, and others(*), as they were commonly found lenses at the time, but not now. Trends in photography change, and many that come to it via modern digital kit get such good results in general use that they don't even learn...
